FAQ

I'm completely new to the field, what is best for me?

All courses and workshops are designed for both beginners and experienced explorers (unless labelled as Level 2 or 3). This means that whatever 'level' you believe yourself to be, tutors will relay information in a very accessible way so that you can take on the information. What is your interest? What are you curious about? This curiosity or interest is a projection of your own intuition, so trust that - and explore! The journey of self-exploration and spirituality is not a steep incline up, it is often a journey of dipping our toes here and there until we discover what is right for us. Then our own, unique journey begins as we discover our true purpose.

I want to book a course/workshop/consultation. How do I book?

Before booking any of the services with the college, please read our Refunds & Cancellations policy. Please use our integrated online service to book for your specific service. You will be emailed a receipt from the College as well as details of how you were charged.

I'm unsure about booking online. Is it safe?

We use a sophisticated, secure payments gateway, powered by Roman Cart & PayPal, the leading international payments service. When you click on the checkout button, you will see a padlock in the bottom of your browser OR in the top of your browser (next to the refresh button) depending which version of Internet Explorer or other browser you are using.

You can enter your card details in the form or use PayPal. Please note that both are as secure as the other. PayPal is a system that allows individuals to store their card details online so they do not have to keep typing them in again. If this is for you (or if you already have a PayPal account), then feel free to click on the PayPal logo and continue. Otherwise use the form to fill in your card details and click submit details.

You can find out more about their service here.

Are there other ways I can pay?

Yes. You can also pay by telephone or cheque.

Telephone: Please telephone LCS on 0207 745 7279 to make a payment over the telephone (if you do not have an email address, we can only process your payment if you have a credit card).

Cheque: Payments may also be made via cheque. However, please note that places will not be reserved until the cheque is received. You will receive an email from LCS confirming that your cheque has been received and your place is now officially reserved. Please send cheque, made payable to London College of Spirituality, to:

London College of Spirituality, 16-19 Southampton Place, Holborn, London, WC1A 2AJ

Please do not hesitate to contact any member of the LCS Administration Team if you require help at any time.

  I've paid, what happens now?

Please make sure you read the Payment Complete page. Please make sure if you have booked a course, workshop or consultation to send LCS your contact telephone number in case of any unforeseen changes to your booking. If unsure of anything, please give us a call.

I want to buy a course/workshop/consultation as a gift for someone, do you offer any vouchers?

Yes, we offer personalised gift vouchers to anyone who has made a purchase. Please give us ample time to send the voucher to you! See our Gift Voucher page for further details.

Do you offer concessions for those with disabilities, benefits; the unemployed, students, etc..?

Currently, we are unable to offer concessions to anyone until we establish our Trust Fund. This fund will offer scholarships, bursaries and concessions to those in society who could benefit from learning in this environment. Members of the public will be able to donate into the fund, which will then be used to offer benefits to those who need it the most. The College trust fund is being set up and we will put a notice when it is up and running.

Do you offer scholarships & bursaries?

Not at this time but yes we will do so. Please see above.

Are the Certificates you provide professional?

Apart from the Reiki certificates, all certificates offered to participants at the London College of Spirituality are for entertainment purposes only. They provide a sense of accomplishment for the participant as well as connection to their respective tutor.

Reiki certificates, however, are recognised by various Reiki bodies around the world as a sign of professionalism, whereby the Reiki practitioner has been initiated by a Reiki Master and can provide a lineage. Once a Reiki Practitioner has reached Reiki Master level, they have reached the ability to teach and heal others in a professional capacity. All Reiki Masters however need insurance and it is best advised they affiliate with a professional body. One such body that recognises Reiki practitioners & Masters is the UK Reiki Federation.

Can I donate to the college? Where will my money go? How do I go about this?

Not at this time, however with the establishment of the college trust fund you will be able to donate to a very worthwhile cause - the development of those who are financially and socially less well off in society. Please see question relating to concessions.

I've ordered a course/workshop/consultation and would like to cancel, what do I do?

Please look at our Refunds & Cancellations policy which outlines our policies regarding all cancellations of any service with the college. Then contact us on 0207 745 7279 to discuss how you would like to proceed.

I want to come along to a lecture. Where are they based? Can I pay on the door?

Lectures are often held at our off-site venue - Friends Meeting House in Euston. Please check the lecture details on the lecture page for specific details. We occasionally use the London School of Economics in Holborn for some of our more prolific lecturers. Usually you can pay on the door, unless we have specifically labelled the lecture as "PRE-BOOK" in which case, booking via our online system will reserve you a place.

I'm confused. What is the meetup and how is it related to the London College of Spirituality?

The London Spirituality Meetup and London Spiritual Discussion Group are offshoots of the London College of Spirituality. They act invariably as independent bodies - to allow true blossoming of the people involved. The London College of Spirituality advertises its lectures through the meetup in order for people to RSVP, comment and see who else is attending. Please note, many do not RSVP yet come along to attend so numbers are often different from what is occurring on the meetup page. The meetup site is a forum for people to come together in a social setting - meeting new friends, communicating, networking and connecting. Regular updates of what is happening at the college as well as free events are advertised through the meetup.

The London Spirituality Meetup Group was what initially launched the London College of Spirituality, which is why it will always be integral to the college's foundation and purpose - to connect people together.

Why are Political courses, workshops & lectures included in the London College of Spirituality?

Politics and spirituality are two terms that have throughout history been defined in countless ways. In truth, there is no clear definition of either. Some have said that everything in life is political because everything we do has an effect on the world around us. Others say that this is a spiritual perspective through interconnectedness. Semantics aside, the goals of both are the same.

Whilst traditional politics has been polarised where there is always a side to choose, or a party to align with - its policies tend to focus on maintaining a polar opposite to its 'enemy' party. Of course, without inclusion or acceptance of another's ideas or thoughts, compromise or progression can never truly be made. Compassion takes all ideas into account so that a new path can evolve. The same is true for spirituality and all forms of thought - if there is a particular stance that alienates another, then is this approach truly holistic?

Holism is a word that has been recently used to describe the new politics or spiritual activism. Holism recognises that all life is interdependent and connected - interconnectedness. The Whole is a sum of its parts. Holism also recognises the importance of social responsibility and that through self-reflection (understanding the Self) can we truly understand another. The world is a creation of all the choices of all the people. By changing your life through small little steps - you inevitably change the Whole - this is your Power! This is Your World - You are an integral part of the Whole.

Excerpt from Conscious Living, a holistic/political/spiritual organisation in affiliation with the London College of Spirituality

"We are responsible for the world around us both through our actions and our inactions. Every single choice you make has infinite repercussions throughout eternity. As you live your day, you may feel like you have no effect on those halfway across the world. You may feel that events occurring in countries you don't even know the capital of have no relation to your life. You may feel that your life is complicated enough without the need to worry about those you've never met. However, the entire world is connected in so many ways to you. What is largely unknown is the realisation that each person is constantly creating the world before them - through their daily choices, actions and interactions - including our inactions. The planet is a co-creation of each of our individual creations, therefore we are each responsible for the world before us. We have become so conditioned to live our daily, separate lives that we have forgotten to think logically about what our daily actions lead to."

So...How do I get involved with the community?

There are many ways - and most of them are already around you. There are plenty of compassionate groups that have worked hard to make it easy for people to get involved in local community work. LCS is working towards creating a network of organisations so that you can see clearer the links around you. We are also developing our own community-based programmes so that compassionate beings such as yourself can spread your light in an effective manner. Please visit our Events page for details on community work as well as our Gateway page for other organisations we are currently linking up with.

I'm opening up! I can hear angels! I can see my great grandfather! The Earth plane is an illusion!

Slow down! Remember to ground yourself into this reality. You are a spiritual being within a physical vessel - so remember the physical aspect of you! There is a reason you are here on the physical plane, to live as a physical being. Your physical vessel requires attention just as the rest of you. Plenty of exercise, organising, cleaning, walking in nature - all helps to ground yourself....and still allows you to pay your bills.

My course/workshop/consultation has opened up issues for me. Is this normal? What shall I do next?

Yes this is completely normal! Relax. In fact, this is a good thing. As a child and teenager you were familiar with this process. It is the emergence of our issues that allows us to deal with them - and ultimately resolve them. The first thing to remember is that you are not alone - everyone has issues. The difference is some choose to ignore them and repress whilst others allow them to emerge and deal - so that they are transmuted into strengths. What is important is that you are getting support.

So, if you're feeling shaky, remember that there are plenty of people around you to speak to. First, speak to your tutor or therapist, they will be intimately involved with your development and may be able to help, for they will undoubtedly have gone through similar situations throughout their own life, which is why they are now in a position to teach. Next, talk to someone who is supportive of you. There are usually always people in our lives who are ready to listen yet we tend to block them fearing that they may not understand. Sharing allows for understanding and often people may surprise you whilst dealing with things on our own usually makes the process slower. However, if it feels feels uncomfortable to speak to a friend or family member, remember that there is a free meetup group just for this, where you can meet others who are also experiencing similar awakenings and processing - please see our meetup page for various discussion groups and general informal meetups. We can also recommend professional groups or therapists to help guide you if this is what you desire.

I want to help out at the college. What shall I do next?

Thank You! We are always looking for volunteers to help out. Facilitators are needed to help out opening the doors for participants. In return, they are able to attend said courses for free. Please send an email to the college with details of the course you are interested in (admin@londoncollegeofspirituality.co.uk). Please ensure that you can make each week of the course at least half an hour before it begins. We are not seeking volunteers for workshops at this time.
