| Love vs Fear: Two Sides of the
Same Coin |
|
Akasha Lonsdale
When fear, hatred, desire for revenge,
intolerance and anger are present - Love is missing.
Fear and
Love are opposites. Fear is contraction of the heart,
which is not great for physical, emotional or spiritual
wellbeing. With fear,
possibilities are limited and life is likely to feel
very narrow and restrictive.
Love holds hands with Courage to overcome
Fear
Love
is at the core of our being. We don't have to
find it - it is and always has been, within us. Tucked in the
inner recesses of our Being. Sometimes the
journey to "re-discover" it, can seem a long one and yet
there are moments when we glimpse it totally and may not
even recognise it. Read

John
Gloster-Smith
There are times when a good hard look at
oneself may be a far more effective cure to what is not
working than trying to change what is happening "out
there".
When we encounter difficulties in life, we
may blame other people, events or the environment for
what is happening. This might be OK. However, it is
worth taking a second look. Often the problem may be a
familiar one, which keeps cropping up in one's life. It
is only after some major incident occurs that the
sufferer finally comes to the point of asking, "might
anything of this be due to me?" And so it turns out that
in fact it is caused by oneself, by characteristics
within one that that he or she has not till now been
aware of...Read

| The Path of
Transformation |

Ankur
I was merely a spectator, albeit of that
spectacular crescendo of fireworks that enlightened the
Thames in the first minutes of the 21st century. I was a
spectator in my life too. Just watching it bounce along
in no particular direction. Of course I did have
direction, but it was from work and others. My life was
being directed by others; I was just fitting in, to
their show. What was I getting out of my life? Where was
I going?
I was a bank manager. A hard-working,
focussed, stressed and thoroughly pissed-off bank
manager. I had a 'good' job and I played hard too, but I
was (very) slow in realising that I didn't have a Life.
I was merely a distant and powerless observer of my
existence, as it slid aimlessly down a slippery slope. I
was devoid of feeling, unknown to joy, and had never
been truly 'in love'. And I was a
complete stranger to the values of peace and fulfilment.
Plus I was lost in the maze that is the corporate
jungle...
And then it all changed...Read

| Messages from Your
Angels |

Anna Wolf
Having taught a variety of clients from
all over the globe and from many walks of life, I have
been asked the same questions many times. 'How do I
receive clear guidance and messages from my
Angels?'
'Upon
receiving this guidance and answers how do I know that
the messages are real and that I have not made them up
or imagined them?'
People are often
filled with self doubt and insecurity. Would the Angels
really have time to answer me and am I truly worthy of
receiving their guidance? Read

| Thought of the Month - Why
Politics Matters |
|
Lila Allen
Worlds apart - that's how many view
spirituality and politics. One a doctrine of peace, love
and equality for all. The other mired in deviousness,
often power hungry and divisive. Surprising then that
the London College of Spirituality has a political
dimension? Not so, I'd argue, because we are by nature
political. Just as spirituality teaches that our every
act and thought has consequence, politics is the acting
out of those beliefs. It is the arms and legs to the
spiritual heart and mind, physically manifesting our
beliefs and intentions.
Where we shop, what brand of soft
drink we buy, where we holiday. Each of these everyday
examples says something about who we are and how we view
the world we live in. This is politics in action. It
cannot, then, be separated from spirituality.
But more importantly, it is the
responsibility of people on the spiritual path to be
political. Spirituality is expressed in many ways but
it's essential teachings of love and oneness command a
sense of responsibility for our surroundings. We cannot
then step away from the world and reject politics as
something separate to us. We are all part of creation
and what else is politics but relationships between
people working to create the future.
Lila Allen is a
researcher, activist and journalist. Former editor of
Europe's largest student newspaper, Lila now focuses her
work towards current affairs and compassionate activism.

| COMPETITION!: The Star of the
Magi |
Christmas Comes
Early!
Enjoy your Christmas with Courtney
Robert's brand new book: The Star of the Magi. Courtney,
who recently gave a passionate and popular lecture on
her book at LCS in October, investigates the role of the
Magi in Astrology:
"The
Star of the Magi remains one of the most popular, and
puzzling mysteries of the Bible. Its inclusion,
at the very beginning of the very First Gospel, raises
any number of good questions. For instance,
why would the authors (and editors) of the Christian
gospels choose Zoroastrian Magi and astrology to herald
the coming of Jesus Christ? Did the Magi
have some special significance then that we have since
lost? After
all, the New Testament narrative opens with them. So who were
they, and did their astrological beliefs really lead
them to Jesus?
Once we understand who the Magi were,
how their astrology informed their beliefs, and how much
those beliefs influenced their Jewish neighbors, some
strikingly obvious conclusions emerge. This work
highlights their surprisingly widespread influence,
shedding new light on the rise of monotheism and
Messianic expectations in the Middle East, and the
Christian West."
Courtney Roberts, M.A. is a writer,
teacher, and consultant, originally from Miami,
FL. With over 25 years experience in the
field of astrology, her work reflects a unique
perspective: a real passion for the 'big picture' that
deftly combines cosmology, religious studies and
history. For more about her new book,
